Music

Music is an exciting part of the worship celebration!

The St. Mary Parish Music Program, directed by Paula Savaglio, includes a

Youth Choir, Adult Choir, Folk Ensemble, Bell Choir and Resurrection Choir.

Ms. Savaglio possesses a Bachelor of Music with a major in music history and a

Masters Degree in Ethnicity and Music from the University of Michigan.

She received her Doctorate in Musicology from the University of Illinois.

Ms. Savaglio has also served on the faculties of

Newman University in Kansas and Hope College in Michigan.

Talented and creative, she plays the piano, organ and violin.

The St. Mary Parish Music Program includes the following:

ADULT CHOIR

This ensemble sings regularly at the 9 AM Sunday Mass. The Adult Choir welcomesindividuals (ages 17 and up) who enjoy singing three and four-part harmony. Rehearsals are Monday evenings 7 PM - 8:30 PM during the school year.

FOLK ENSEMBLE

This ministry sings at the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass and consists of musically trained vocalists and instrumentalists. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings 7:30 PM – 9 PM during the school year.

CANTORS

Singers wishing to lead the assembly in song-filled prayer are encouraged to audition for this ministry. Rehearsals are held by appointment to prepare for liturgical celebrations.

RESURRECTION CHOIR

This ensemble lends support to parish members who are grieving the loss of a loved one. The group sings at funeral masses - usually scheduled for weekday mornings. No rehearsals are required.

HANDBELL CHOIR

Parishioners aged 14 and older who are interested in handbell ringing are encouraged to participate in this ministry. Rehearsals are Thursday evening 6 PM – 7 PM. The group rings handbells at various masses throughout the year.

YOUTH CHOIR

Young members of St. Mary Parish (grades 3 through 8) who love to sing are

invited to join this group. The group sings at various Masses throughout the year. Rehearsal times are Mondays from 6 PM - 6:45 PM
