First Holy Eucharist

First Holy Eucharist for Children

First Holy Eucharist is our great and joyous meal of love, unity and thanksgiving.

First Holy Eucharist is celebrated with those children baptized and instructed in the Roman Catholic faith who are of grade school age.

These are children currently in our Catholic school, in our religious formation program for after school children (public school) or in
an approved home school program.

What can I expect?

The family provides a child’s strongest link to his/her Catholic faith by regularly attending Sunday mass and participating in the holy sacraments.

To express their desire that their child receive the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, the family contacts the Faith Formation Office at 248.547.1810.

The candidate for First Holy Eucharist participates in a religious formation program at his/her Catholic grade school or after school program or in an approved home program.

The family is asked to participate in first Holy Eucharist gatherings offered by the parish.

The family encourages and supports the sacrament of reconciliation which is celebrated before the child receives his/her First Holy Eucharist.

The family participates in a First Holy Eucharist interview after which a date for First Holy Eucharist is scheduled.  Call 248.547.1810 Ext.208.

The family provides St. Mary Catholic Church with the child’s proof of baptism.

The family, with input from their child, can decide if First Holy Eucharist will be celebrated individually at a regular Sunday mass, with the entire group on Pentecost weekend, or both.

What about the ceremony?
